Oh Lil Christmas Tree: 2024’s Official Ornament

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of Touched by An Angel. To honor this occasion, I reviewed three episodes of the show in September. These episodes were “The Southbound Bus”, “Psalm 151”, and “Mother’s Day”. Over the six years of 18 Cinema Lane’s existence, I’ve written about other Touched by An Angel episodes, including “The Spirit of Liberty Moon”. In that episode, Jean explains to Edward and Monica how fortune cookies are an American invention. So, with all that said, this year’s ornament is a golden fortune cookie!

As I wrote this ‘Oh Lil Christmas Tree’ article, I came to the realization this is the first ornament based on food. Screenshot taken by me, Sally Silverscreen.

Oh Lil Christmas Tree: 2023’s Official Ornament

In 2023, I reviewed four Christmas movies; Christmas at Castle Hart, The National Tree, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, and Christmas Princess. At first glance, you might think the one thing these films have in common is how they are made for TV programs. What these movies also have in common is they were released in years past. This similiarity reminded me of another Christmas movie I reviewed that premiered in the past as well; 1990’s The Nutcracker Prince! When I wrote about the film in 2021, I said it was a fine production, respecting the source material while also bringing something new to the table. Within that review, I brought up how the duel between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King served as the movie’s main conflict. So, when I saw this Mouse King ornament, I instantly thought of The Nutcracker Prince and had to add it to my Oh Lil Christmas Tree collection!

While writing this ‘Oh Lil Christmas Tree’ article, I realized that every two years, I add an ornament to my collection based on a Christmas movie I’ve reviewed. Screenshot taken by me, Sally Silverscreen.

Oh Lil Christmas Tree: 2022 Official Ornaments

It’s that time of year again: the reveal of 2022’s official ornament for ‘Oh Lil Christmas Tree’! You might have read the title of this post and thought I made a typo. Putting an ‘s’ after ‘ornament’ was totally intentional, as this year, I’ve chosen four ornaments to join my collection!

Despite reading only one of Jan Karon’s books, I absolutely love these ornaments! Screenshot taken by me, Sally Silverscreen.

These four snowmen are from Hallmark’s Mitford Snowman Jubilee set, based on Jan Karon’s book, The Mitford Snowmen: A Christmas Story. While I haven’t read this book, I did read (and review) At Home in Mitford last year. I also reviewed its 2017 Hallmark Channel adaptation. As of December 2022, 18 Cinema Lane has been around for four years. So, a set of four snowmen ornaments seemed fitting for this year’s addition!

Oh Lil Christmas Tree: 2021’s Official Ornament

Last year, I announced a new project called Oh Lil Cristmas Tree, where I add a new ornament that somehow relates to my blog. When I first introduced this project, I showed my readers a small colonial style hat that was reminiscent of Jiggy Nye’s hat from Felicity: An American Girl Adventure. This year, after searching for the perfect addition, a Christmas cat ornament will be joining the tree! Two years ago, I reviewed the Hallmark Channel movie, The Nine Lives of Christmas. It was a film I really liked and was one of the best I saw that year! So, it made sense for a festive kitty to be the next choice.

Isn’t this cat just the cutest? Screenshot taken by me, Sally Silverscreen.
